The industrialized world has helped us but has also made us somehow handicap. Yes, we have been programed to want it all fast and right here and now. We cannot wait for crops to fully ripen, we need to harvest early to ship fast, to sell soon. We need to get in our cars and move from one place to the other, and for that, we need fast foods that we can swallow in a minute or two. We need lots of plastic to store, cover, and transport. We need lots of prescription medications that will get symptoms gone within the hour because we have to keep on running from one place to the next. Oh! and I forgot! We also need all sorts of lotions, fragrances, and fun chemically loaded products to look beautiful and feel great! God had all wrong when he made us smelly!
As I said, I was born in this generation! I learned to eat fast, to get over vaccinated, over medicated and over worked! I needed faster solutions in less and less time. I treated myself to expensive creams and treatments to soften my skin, brighten and smoothed my hair and make me look like the gals on the commercials. But… has this made me healthier? That should be the final end result right? Has all this time and energy spent on running fast and looking great, and feeling better sooner really added “healthy years” to my life? Sadly, I have learn to understand that the answer is …“Probably NOT! It all has most likely stolen healthy years out of my hands!
When I became a mother, I had to learn the hard way that many of the things and procedures I thought were right, were in fact not the best option. How did I realize this? When I saw my baby boy’s body fighting to stay healthy! When I saw his system being affected by digestive problems, food allergies, and asthma. When I saw that my first born was not growing the way that magazines and books say kids should do.
At this point I had to STOP and ASK lots of questions. I had to learn to research better ways to help him improve. Every medication he was given seamed to trigger something else! Soon enough he was also suffering from eczema, and his asthma was getting worse and worse!
I have learn to understand that healing comes from the inside out. I switched to a Holistic Pediatrician, who then also referred me to a wonderful Holistic Homeopathic Consultant. They both taught me that the body is not just a bunch of parts that may not be working, it is a WHOLE! A complete amazing system that works together! When one part is not working properly, the rest of the parts suffer in one way or another. They taught me about toxic chemicals being stored inside our bodies with no way out, making us more susceptible to illness. They taught me about the importance of nourishment, not only as a feeding procedure, but as a process that required the right foods! At this point I also realized that not all foods are still good! In many occasions, we are only eating an image of health and nutrition, but in reality it’s just a shell that will leave us still empty.
Ok! Once again I have explained my enlightenment process… process that does not ever stop. Every day I learn something new and great, because I have chosen to find it. I have chosen to find the right people to teach me and have made the commitment to always look ahead. My kids deserve to be truly healthy!
In this search crusade, I came across Gina Laverde, a Body Ecology Diet Couch. What an awesome story. As I have shared before, her son was labeled as Autistic by the Chicago School District. ]]>With the Holistic and Alternative Medicine Approach we learn the disease is caused by something that is not in the right place, or working in the right way. By taking medications, injections, potions and lotions, we are just covering up the symptoms but are NOT REALLY TREATING THE CAUSE!
Our Chiropractors did wonderful things for their patients. I was there when I saw people walking in to the Clinic without their canes, their wheel chairs or their sack of prescription medications under their arm. I was there when I was able to see their smiles returning to their faces. I was there to receive hugs and tears and see lives being changed.
If that can be done, why is it the United States is the sickest Country in the world!??? We consumed the most medications but yet are the ones with the highest rates in Diabetes, heart disease, autism and more! Have we stopped to wonder why???? I don’t think so. Why? Because we have learned to live with an illness. We have learned to live with pain. We have stopped hoping. We just stopped believing that may be, something else could return my health.
I may sound like a broken record, but in my case, I DON’T WANT MY SON TO SUFFER FROM ASTHMA AND FOOD ALLERGIES!! NOO!! I want him to be happy and healthy! I want him to be a kid and run in circles if he wants to without having the gasp for air every 5 minutes! I want him to chase a cat and pet him for hours without fearing that his eyes will pop out of his head with allergies! I want him to be a healthy man to enjoy the life God has giving him.
I have been searching, I have been trying! We have improved! We have gotten stuck! But we are still trying.
While doing my research, I have read and listened to countless online lectures and I have also asked tons of questions. All my walking and talking led me to “The Raw Mom Summit” and specifically to Gina Laverde. Why out of all the speakers I got to connect with Gina over Twitter? Perhaps, because her journey had taken her to finding the answers to my same questions and may be because will find the hope I was looking for! IT CAN BE DONE! or should I say? IT CAN BE UNDONE!
Gina’s experience is on the road to recover her son from Autism. Dougy is a happy, communicative and lovely boy! I have talked to him over the webcam and the happiness and peace that I feel from Gina and him are admirable.

The process and the changes are never easy. Problems, financial circumstances and other obstacles are going to be in the way. But there is one thing that I am sure about, and that is that I love my son, and that I will keep on trying to bring his perfect smile permanently back to his face! He doesn’t have to learn to live with Asthma! Neither do you!

]]>After her son, started showing symptoms of Autism and was later on diagnosed with this illness, all of her efforts were directed into CURING her son’s AUTISM.
She researched day and night until she found a solution that little by little brought her son back to her. She could see into his eyes again, she was able to enjoy his hugs and smiles one more time. He started to be himself and feel happier and more calm each day.
The changes were not immediate, it certainly took time, but the results to this day are incredible!
Last night she shared with us part of this journey and some of the dietary tools she has been utilizing to fight Autism over the past three years.
Every child is different, and the reasons that have induced Autism in their life may be different, but one there is one thing in common, “A toxic overload” hindering their bodies abilities to fight what is making them ill” . There are treatments for Autism, but we as parents need to observe and understand how are children react to their foods and their environment. We need to research, ask and try different options until we find what works for them.
Gina, did all of the above and found what worked best for her son. Today, Dougy is a happy boy, that engages in conversations, loves hugs and kisses and knows that his carrots need some Dip! I have seen him, I have talk to him and the joy and love they share is an example worth to follow.
The best part of this, is that the same principles can be applied to kids suffering from allergies, asthma and digestion problems.

When I see the staggering and heart braking statistics of children suffering from Autism or Neurological disorders in this Country, I get so upset that I wish I could tower over the world and make it stop! But I am only a mom and I am certain that all my battles start at home, and this is what I am doing today!
According to the latest estimates, 1 in 67 children has Autism, 1 in 6 children suffers a developmental disorder, and 1 in 38 boys has Autism. Isn’t this the REAL PANDEMIC?????
It makes me laugh so hard when I see the “Swine Flu Pandemic” news! Are they being serious? The last one I heard was: “1 Million Cases Worldwide of Swine Flu! Beware! Vaccinate your family and be prepared!!!” Ha ha ha! Excuse me! But the World’s Population is over 6 Billion and growing! Isn’t 1 million like a 1% ???
Ok, let’s pause on this. Do you know that the CDC has estimated that each year in the United States 36,000 people will die of complications from the Regular Flu? So far this year, there has been only 87 deaths reported on the Swine Flu Issue. Don’t get me wrong! Every death is a loss and bigger or smaller numbers do not diminish their importance. What is wrong, and what I am criticizing is the approach of Authorities on our health issues. They are giving almost no importance to the outrageous numbers of children suffering from Autism and Development Disorders. It is not normal to suffer from this! It is not part of nature and we don’t just have to comply with the system and fold in without a word being said.
Moms! Dads! It is time to fight for our children’s future! It is time for us to take control of lives and their health. Health Care officials in United States are not helping us to stop the madness. They are just making us jump through the hoops of medical bureaucracy to assure that our children will have a long life of medical bills covered! This is not fair, this is not right and we have to say something!
For now, once again, our battles begin at home. We have kids to care for the best way we can. The road ahead has many possibilities, but we have to search proactively for them and choose the ones the better suit our family’s case. Here, is where I want to introduce you to a fantastic Mom that did not fold in after her son’s Autism diagnose. She started her own crusade to improve her son’s quality of life and so far, she has reached fantastic results! Changes do not come easy, but sometimes we have to do what we have to do for those we love. Her name is Gina Laverde and through her experience she has develop a new vision in life, a new approach to this illness, and great tools to aid others in their own journey.

]]>The problem of the 21st Century’s culture is that WE DON’T TRUST our INNATE abilities to be happy, to be healthy, and even to be positive. We just have to believe in it, and let our Godly Nature blossom under HIS protection so we can be what we were meant to be, without labels and without limitations.
Dr. Stacey Green, D.C. is a really good friend of my Sister in Law, Tressy Harris-Guadagno, who happens to be a wonderful Holistic Pediatric Occupational Therapist. They just forward me this gorgeous video that shows GOD AT WORK! It does not matter what “illness” or developmental problem our kids have been diagnosed with. It only matters that GOD lives within us and that his love and mercy go above and beyond our understanding.

He has a particular talent for drawing lifelike, accurate representations of cities, sometimes after having only observed them briefly. He was awarded an MBE for services to the art world in 2006. He studied Fine Art at City & Guilds Art College. His work is popular all over the world, and is held in a number of important collections.
Stephen was born in London to West Indian parents on 24th April, 1974. As a child, he was mute and did not relate to other human beings. Aged three, he was diagnosed as autistic. He had no language and lived entirely in his own world.”
